Biography

Mark Oehlert is an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, a global technology consulting firm. He works on the Learning Team as a Learning Strategy Architect and provides leadership and enterprise-level insight on a number of issues including game-based learning, mobile learning, emerging technologies and strategic planning. Before returning to Booz Allen, Mark served as the Director of Learning Innovations for the MASIE Center.

As the Director of Learning Innovations for the MASIE Center, Mark worked directly with senior learning and training leaders from over 200 Fortune 500 companies. He has co-hosted, along with Elliott Masie, the successful Extreme Learning Workshops – helping corporate leaders sharpen and focus their awareness of important trends and technologies and has worked closely with the MASIE Center CONSORTIUM’s Gaming On-Ramp group to help corporate learning and training leaders explore the possibilities of learning in virtual worlds.

Mark possesses an in-depth knowledge of current and emerging PC-based and mobile computing technologies and associated market trends, especially as they relate to e-Learning, job performance support, device-based and game-based learning.

Prior to coming to the Masie Center, Mark worked for the global technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. At Booz Allen he provided leadership and direction for multiple e-Learning, mobile computing and game-based learning programs.

From June 2000 until January of 2003 he served as the Deputy Director for Communications at the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Co-Laboratory and also at the Department of Defense (DOD) ADL initiative, where he acted as the leadership team’s primary e-Learning research coordinator. In this role he was responsible for maintaining an awareness of existing e-Learning efforts in industry, academia and government, as well as for providing relevant and timely updates to the Co-Lab leadership on emerging technologies and advances.

Mark has also worked with the ADL team to stand up both the ADL Job Performance Technology Center and ADL's Gaming Research Observatory. For 6 years, Mark produced the well-regarded e-Clippings newsletter which has now become the e-Clippings blog. He also plays too much Battlefield 2.
