I wanted to do a follow-on post to let everyone know that Yaniv Golan, the CTO from Yedda had stopped by and left a great comment on my original post here. The reason for this wholly new post is two-fold - first, I wanted to make sure that I got the word out as loudly as I could about the issues Yaniv raises (included here below the fold) and I wanted to say that when people ask me to define this amorphous thing called Web 2.0 - I really think that this kind of interaction is one of its defining characteristics. And yes, I'll be trying Yedda out again as soon as I get a spare 5 minutes to add it back to the blog. :-)
Thanks for posting your experience with the Yedda widget!
You have raised several important points:
- You encountered an issue while adding the widget to your TypePad blog - could you please let me know what was the problem? If you wish, you can contact me directly by email (my first name @ yedda.com).
- Sign up: I have to agree on this on, the fact that you have to register right away is annoying. It's a technical limitation that we're getting rid of this week. I'll drop you a note when its online, I'd love to hear your feedback on the new behavior.
- Back to your blog: actually when you post the question, there is a rather prominent "back to the blog" link. We believe that after posting their question, most users will want to go back to site they were at when they started, and we're doing our best to provide them with a clear way to do it.
However, based on your feedback, we're now adding a "back to <blog name>" link also on the first page where you edit your question before posting it.
Re the dynamics, when one of your blog readers posts a question from your blog, you will receive a notification (through RSS or email if you provided one). Or you can check your dashboard at Yedda. When you answer a question, the asker receives a notification too (again, RSS, email if provided, or through Yedda).
However, you will receive this notification only if you are registered to Yedda yourself. I guess this is not clear enough, we'll improve this!
Thanks again for your comments and observations -
Yaniv Golan
