iLearnium...interesting but whats the goal here?

Found this new site iLearnium. Has some interesting features like a blog river and a ratings and reviews section but I have to wonder about the compelling reason for me to contribute to this. Now I want to be clear, I have nothing against this effort - in fact I applaud it - I do have to ask though, like Stephen Downes did,  what's my motivation?

I have my blog and I occasionally write for the Learning Circuits Blog, and I can review products there - although not grouped as nicely as at iLearnium - although I can just use a tag like "reviews" on my blog. I could use Yahoo! Pipes to build a widget that pulls from a bunch of sources and aggregates them into one feed....I'm not trying to rain on the parade but rather say  - what need is not being met? Maybe its not user-generated reviews maybe its inside info from the companies themselves...maybe its an anonymous place where customers can bitch about products and/or services...there may be something there...I hope they find it...

Wow, agree the blog river is a pretty cool way to take a quick scan of what's going on out there. I found the other links to look more like vendor ads, and when I dove into the ratings, er . . . there were none. Yet. Nonetheless, I'll check back in the future, and in the meantime, waiting for pages to load gave me plenty of time to refill my wine glass.

Mark, I answer your questions here:
