Congratulations and thank you MSG Stiles. I served 8 years of active duty and have some sense of your sacrifice. If I can be of any help in your transition, please let me know @denniscallahan.

Mark - this is a great tribute and I appreciate your recognition of those that have served.

Please offer my thanks to "Roy" and a congratulatory salute from one retired Army NCO to another and newest member of the retirement brotherhood.

To sum up the qualities of mission focused, smart, and not being whiners, in the end its all about the "Beans & Bullets!"

Mark, thanks for sharing this story about those that choose to serve this country. My Dad was an AF MSG nd the description of NCO is spot on throughout his life.

Nice write up Mark! I didn't know all this about Roy.

  • "The hallmark of revolution is that the goals of the revolutionaries cannot be contained by the institutional structure of the society they live in. As a result, either the revolutionaries are put down, or some of those institutions are transmogrified, replaced, or simply destroyed. We are plainly witnessing a restructuring of the music and newspaper businesses, but their suffering isn’t unique, it’s prophetic." --Clay Shirky
