A foot in both worlds...working on a MacBook

MacbookYep. That's what I'm working on now. I know...big whup right? Well it's interesting to be getting used to this now...no right-click...disorienting to be sure but what has really caught my eye is how all of MSFT's software for home users seems to just be dumbed down versions of their business products but Apple seems to have a clue that people might want apps that do things that relate to their hobbies, interests and just stuff in general that isn't work.

If folks out there have any great tips. tricks, etc for working on a MacBook - send 'em my way...I'll be grateful.

So here I sit, technically in-between jobs...

Cardboard So today was my last day at Booz Allen Hamilton. Tuesday, I will start a new career in the U.S. federal government working in the e-Learning Technology Center (eLTC) at the Defense Acquisition University (DAU).

I am psyched, really. I am going to miss the folks at Booz Allen and they are great, smart folks. That being said, I look forward to being able to fully concentrate on how emerging technologies, Web 2.0-ish things, mobile learning and game-based learning can be used to support a global workforce.

For now though, I'm going to enjoy the weekend and get ready go to an exciting new job next week.

Have a great and safe Memorial Day, and if yo live in the U.S., say a thank you to the brave men and women, past present and future, who volunteer to stand on that wall and go in harm's way for the rest of us.

My Blog is Worth $66, 615.72 (any buyers??)

..seriously...if anybody wants to give me what...like $60K...that is more than $6K off...e-Clippings is yours!! Actually the only reason I posted this is because I found it interesting that the applet uses the same formula that was used in the AOL-Weblogs, Inc. deal to calculate the value of that deal.

My blog is worth $66,615.72.
How much is your blog worth?

Great Ad for Newspaper Position (via Judy Brown)

Roanoke_ad Judy Brown passed along this great little ad from the Roanoke Times. It's funny and cute but at base it actually tells you an awful lot about the job, the town and the people you'd be working with. Wouldn't it be cool to have something like this for e-learning courses?

Did they Hand out Lunesta Before the State of the Union Speech?

This is just great. From over at Hot Air comes this gallery of all the folks who caught some much-needed shuteye during the latest SOTU. Check out McCain and Biden - both presidential hopefuls and both verrryy sleeeppy.

The Piece of Cutting Edge Technology I Have Been Working...

Pinewood_kit....was actually a block of wood. After much CAD work and laser-cutting, the block looked like a wedge. My son and I didn't win our Cub Scout pack's Pinewood Derby but our car raced in 4 heats and kept its wheels on the whole time - baseline achieved!

Quoth he...

  • "The hallmark of revolution is that the goals of the revolutionaries cannot be contained by the institutional structure of the society they live in. As a result, either the revolutionaries are put down, or some of those institutions are transmogrified, replaced, or simply destroyed. We are plainly witnessing a restructuring of the music and newspaper businesses, but their suffering isn’t unique, it’s prophetic." --Clay Shirky
