Nothing to do with learning...but Transformers ROCKS!
I'm sorry but it just had to be said...if you ever watched the cartoons, know what an All Spark is or are familiar with the ongoing tensions between Megatron and Starscream - then this 2.5 hour romp is a must.
I came to the Transformers late...while I did watch growing up, I really got hooked in grad school when I would show up way early in the morning at school, grab my bagel and head to the student lounge where I would start my day with a dose of Beast Wars and Sports Center.
This film is not subtle - c'mon, its based on a line of toys - it is unremittingly violent but not in a 300 kind of way. When humans get dead, there is no blood, no body parts flying around, they just kind of disappear under the rubble. The director, Michael Bay, also is clearly tight with the Pentagon since he is able to include everything from A-10s to F-22s with apparent ease.
And yes, to the detractors who point to the obvious "GMC" labels on the front grill of every Autobot and Decpticon - guess what? They transform into cars...someone had to win.
