So I did this little presentation today for the online conference EduOnline 2007. Thanks very much to Victor Heredia for inviting me. This is the second virtual presentation I've done this year and this one had a twist - my session on mobile learning was translated in real-time into Spanish and Portuguese.
I was thinking that often doing these virtual sessions can be like the audio version of blogging..you're talking and you may or may not know if anyone is listening. Now add that the translator may or may not be able to translate as fast as you talk or maybe you are using too many local expressions..and you get this really odd experience as a presenter. Maybe I'm starting to see why once we get VOIP fixed in Second Life, that may be a great venue for these things (I also want it to be easier to do gestures and such). Maybe then though, I'll have a better feel for how people put themselves out there visually and so on.
